How to reach the hotel. At the exit of international flights or of the central station there are some people who attract the tourist attention by calling "taxi"! They are not real taxi drivers and at the end of the trip they charge you an incredibly high fare. If you want to use the taxi to reach your hotel we recommend you go out of the airport building or the central station and look for the taxi rank. It's not difficult to recognize it because you will see many white cars waiting for clients. Most taxis are white (the old ones may be yellow) and all of them have an inscription with "taxi" written on the top. Inside, taxi drivers are obliged to have a taximeter. If you don't see it ask for it before getting in the car and if the driver doesn't use it ask him to switch it on. If the taxi driver doesn't want to do it's better you get out and take another car. Anyway, if you have any problem with taxis, you can write down the number of the taxi and the name of the driver that you will find written on the seats in front of you or on the car door, and call the police or ask the hotel staff to help you. The number written near the name of the driver is very important because it's the licence number, if the police know it they can recognize the taxi and do something about it. If your hotel is situated near Termini or Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana, and Tiburtina stations, there are trains that are cheaper and safer than taxis. We highly recommend them. There's another possibility to reach the hotel, it's by a private car. It's not more expensive than a taxi but it's definatly safer. Money change. At the airport exchange rates are not very good. If you need to change money, we think it's better to change the amount you need for one or two days and to change the rest in a bank in the city.
